Junior Deputy Academy students receive hands-on rescue training

Bend, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Students in Crook County’s Junior Deputy Academy got hands-on search and rescue training over the weekend.

The Crook County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team worked with students Sunday, teaching them how to track people, recover evidence, and use police radios.

The program gives students a chance to learn directly from law enforcement professionals, while building teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.

It's designed to help young people better understand the different ways first responders serve their communities.
