Sunriver Resort’s 28th annual Gingerbread Junction raises $3,500 for Habitat for Humanity La Pine Sunriver
SUNRIVER, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Sunriver Resort raised $3,500 for Habitat for Humanity La Pine Sunriver from its annual Gingerbread Junction competition, now in its 28th year.
Tom O'Shea, managing director at Sunriver Resort, presented Dwane Krumme, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of La Pine Sunriver, a check earlier this month.
This year, the competition featured 37 gingerbread houses from groups across various categories including: Family, Adult, Individuals, Businesses, Elementary Classroom (K-5), Preschool, Middle School and High School.
One of the highlights this year was a mom and her daughters who created several of the Bend roundabouts with their gingerbread design. There was also a father/daughter duo who worked on their winning design together.
A beloved annual tradition, the Gingerbread Junction event sells “mini lots" for participants to purchase with proceeds going to Habitat for Humanity La Pine Sunriver. The event draws participants from the community who relish in the opportunity to create a unique gingerbread structure and vie for a chance at first place. The designs are then showcased throughout the holidays.
