Bend Heroes Foundation, volunteers plan Parade of Flags on Friday to observe National POW/MIA Recognition Day

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The third Friday in September is National POW/MIA Recognition Day. To mark the solemn occasion Bend Heroes Foundation and volunteers will install military service and first responder flags at the Bend Heroes Memorial this Friday.

There are 21 MIAs from Bend with their names specially marked on the granite monument.

We will read the President's proclamation and the names of Bend's POWs and MIAs and display about 50 flags on Veterans Memorial Bridge at 8 a.m.

This poster from the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency will be displayed at the memorial.
