Mobile dog gym in Bend helps pets stay active during winter

(Update: adding video, comments from pet owner)

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Exercising your pets helps keep them happy and healthy, but taking your dog on a walk in winter weather may not always be the best idea.

Some pet owners are beating the snowy and icy conditions by bringing them to a mobile dog gym like See Spot Run. We reported on this business last year - here's that report.

Bend resident Jacob Roe-Bauer has been using the service for his dog, Dwight. He says it's been very helpful during the winter months.

"He’s a pit and pits don’t exactly love cold weather. So we can get him around the block and he’s done. But with See Spot Run, he can take a nice 30-minute walk/ jog," Roe-Bauer said.

The temperature at which it becomes too cold to walk your dog outside depends on factors like breed, age, and size.

If you do take them out, keep walks short and make sure they’re properly dressed.

Be cautious — ice is slippery and cold, and salt or other ice-melting chemicals can irritate their paws.
