Maria Bartiromo and Fox part ways, effective immediately

(CNN) — Fox News is parting ways with longtime business news anchor Maria Bartiromo, effective immediately.
Fox announced the departure Thursday afternoon, noting that the morning’s episode of “Mornings with Maria” on Fox Business was her last.
“We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 ½ years and wish her all the best on her next chapter,” Fox said in a statement.
Bartiromo did not respond to a request from CNN for comment.
Her shocking departure is the largest surprise from the network since Tucker Carlson left in April 2023. Fox’s announcement did not explain the reason for Bartiromo’s departure. When pressed for more details around her departure, the network pointed to the announcement.
In lieu of “Mornings with Maria,” which airs from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. ET, the network will transition to “Mornings with FOX Business,” beginning Friday. That program will be hosted by rotating anchors.
Similarly, “Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street,” which airs weekly on Friday from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. ET, will become “FBN’s Wall Street,” hosted by Cheryl Casone this week, then rotating anchors.
And over on Fox News Channel, “Sunday Morning Futures,” which airs from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. ET, will be hosted by Jason Chaffetz, a former Republican congressman-turned-Fox analyst, this week, though a different host will be announced in the future.
A staunch ally of President Donald Trump, Bartiromo was among the Fox News anchors who promoted false claims about the 2020 presidential election.
Two voting machine companies, Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic, ultimately sued the conservative network for defamation. Bartiromo’s repeated broadcasts played a central role in those lawsuits. Fox and Dominion settled in April 2023 for more than $787 million.
Bartiromo is known for her closeness with Trump, whom she frequently interviews. She attended his presidential inauguration in January 2025, sitting at Trump’s table during the dinner. Across multiple social media posts, Bartiromo has lavished Trump with praise. The president has, in turn, repeatedly used his social media platform to praise Bartiromo over the years.
In June, Bartiromo was one of several Fox News and Fox Business hosts to read an on-air apology after businessman and frequent Fox guest Kevin O’Leary made claims about Utah data centers during an appearance. The network and O’Leary were later sued for defamation over O’Leary’s comments.
