Vroom Vroom! Classic Cars ‘Cruz’ Through Bend

KTVZ

It was a blast from the past for thousands at Drake Park Saturday.

Hundreds of classic cars were showcased for their engines, paint jobs and interiors for the Flashback Cruz in Bend.

The event started 26 years ago, with just 20 cars on display. Now there are nearly 400 cars and thousands filled the park to oohh and ahh at the colorful classics.

Only 1974 and older classics are allowed at the event.

Each year trophies are given out to the “best of” and “people’s choice.”

Organizers say that generations young and old really enjoy the car show.

“I think a lot of people my age, it’s like going back to my high school, after years of driving these cars, because I have a ’68 Camaro,” said show organizer Joan Spongberg. “It’s in our era and it’s nostalgic and it’s just, everybody has so much fun.”

You can see more of these classic cars Sunday — starting at 9:30 a.m., there will be a “cruz” from Riverfront Plaza in downtown Bend, to the Mount Bachelor ski area for the car Olympics.
