Another Redmond Dog Shot, Killed
For the second time in a month, a dog has been shot and killed on Redmond’s west side, leaving a family grief-stricken and the children “terrified,” the owner said Wednesday.
Kona, a 3-year-old blue heeler-red border collie mix, was shot around 11 a.m. Tuesday near Southwest Canal Boulevard.
Kona lived with the Darms family, who have four boys and two other dogs.
The owners said they noted the bullet wound after Kona walked back into the house and they saw blood on her bed after she laid down.
Kona is believed to have been shot with a .22-caliber gun, the same caliber used to fatally shoot a dog in southwest Redmond last month.
:We’ve got the other two dogs in the house now,” said Marcus Darms. “And the kids are terrified. They don’t know what happened, or why it happened.
“We just know she came home like this, and we did our best to save her.”
Darms said his family recently moved to the area and that Kona never left their yard, and was not an aggressive dog.
