Farmer’s Market is All Prineville

Those attending both the Crooked River Round-up Parade and Rockhound Pow-Wow in Prineville Saturday could also stop by the Prineville Farmer’s Market.

Now in its seventh season, the market provides the community with locally grown produce, meats, cheeses and eggs.

The market has around 10 to 12 vendors on a regular basis, but the growing season is really short.

So that means at the beginning of the season, the farmers struggle with produce being readily available, with very small amounts of produce right now.

But organizers say the number will continue to grow as summer continues.

“Buying locally is the way to boost the economy,” said market Coordinator Dana Jones.”We want people to come down here and buy from our local vendors. It’s super-important. This is our livelihood. This is the way they survive.”

All of the vendors are from Prineville, where they learn how other farmers do their work.

The Prineville Farmer’s Market will be held every Saturday at the City Hall Plaza from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. until October 6th.
