Bikers deliver teddy bears to C. Oregon hospitals

KTVZ

On Saturday, Sept. 15th, about 130 motorcyclists delivered almost 1,800 teddy bears to the Bend, Prineville, Madras and Redmond hospitals. This was the 15th annual Teddy Bear Run, sanctioned by the Central Oregon Chapter of A.B.A.T.E. Of Oregon.

The motorcyclists rode as a group to each of the hospitals to deliver the teddy bears with some escort by the local police and sheriff departments.

The hospitals give the bears to children who are patients, to scared children visiting relatives in the hospitals, and to patients who need something to hug while doing respiratory and other form of therapy.

The hospitals depend on this annual event to supply them with teddy bears.

Many local business donate funds to help purchase teddy bears or items for the after-ride raffle. These items help to attract more riders to the event.

The motorcyclists were primarily from the Central Oregon area but came from all over Oregon to participate. There were members of many motorcycle organizations and clubs present.

A.B.A.T.E. Of Oregon promotes motorcycle awareness, education, safety, and liberty through community involvement and legislative action. A.B.A.T.E. Of Oregon is a non-profit organization.
