Disabled veterans group offers cooking classes
The Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary is offering a series of cooking classes as fundraisers in support of disabled veterans, their families and the community.
The first class, beginning Sunday, October 28th at the VFW Post on 4th and Olney, from 1 to 4 p.m., will be taught by Sushi Chef, Su Ward, recently of Yoko’s Japanese Restaurant in Bend.
Offeringfull preparation from scratch to presentation, for $30students will go home with a fresh Sushi feast to serve at home that night.
The DAV Auxiliary supports programs to include the DAV transportation network which delivers disabled veterans to medical appointments at the VA Medical Clinic in Portland at no cost to the veteran, and partners with Central Oregon Veterans Outreach in actively providing services including housing for homeless veterans, employment assistance, and multiple services to all underserved veterans in the area.
Plans for future classes to be sponsored by the DAVA will include Italian, Cajun, Oriental and more. Reservations for Sunday’s Sushi class will be taken on a first call, first served basis. Call 541-390-6837.
