OSP: Phone line problem affecting instant checks

The Oregon State Police (OSP) Identification Services (ID Services) reported Tuesday morning is currently experiencing technical difficulties accessing LEDS and placing outgoing phone calls.

The outage is affecting all services within ID Services including Fingerprint processing (AFIS), Computerized Criminal History (CCH) and the Firearms Instant Check System (FICS).

Around 8:30 a.m., problems affecting outgoing calls and responses for background checks was identified. OSP can receive incoming calls but cannot make the necessary external checks required until the problems are resolved.

(FICS) is temporarily unable to conduct firearms purchases background checks due to a phone line problem.

OSP will advise as soon as the problem is resolved and asks for your patience if you are trying to complete a firearm purchase.
