Gingerbread Jct. raises funds for Newberry Habitat

Sunriver Resort will end 2012 as it always does, with flurry of charitable activity surrounding their annual Traditions events.

Their final donation of the season will be to Newberry Habitat for Humanity for $2,720, which includes funds from Gingerbread Junction “lot sales” and a matching contribution from the Resort. This worthy organization will use the funds to help build a home for a qualifying family in the La Pine area in 2013.

A total 33 award winners in 14 categories were honored in a Gingerbread Junction award ceremony on Friday, December 14.

Voting for 12 of the categories was conducted by a panel of community judges; two “people’s choice” categories included winners selected by the public during the annual Grand Illumination event held the day after Thanksgiving.

“We are very pleased to partner with the community and provide assistance to such a great organization,” said Managing Director Tom O’Shea of the event.

O’Shea presented the awards, along with a check to the Newberry Habitat team, at the awards ceremony in the Abbot Room at the Sunriver Resort Lodge, where the Gingerbread Junction homes will be on display until next week.
