New Redmond School Board member appointed

The Redmond School District board of directors has appointed Patricia Reck of Redmond, Ore. Reck fills the vacancy of Jim Erickson, whose term was scheduled to end on June 30, 2013.

A retired teacher, Reck has worked in public and parochial education for more than 27 years. She has taught in classrooms in Brothers, La Pine, Madras, Prineville, Sisters and overseas in Tokyo. Reck is currently a substitute teacher for the High Desert Education Service District.

Reck was sworn in during a short board meeting held on January 9, 2013. She will join the board on Wednesday, January 30 at its regularly scheduled meeting at the Redmond School District office.

“I am thrilled and honored to serve in a public capacity,” shared Reck. “I’ve seen the evolution of education over the last 50 years. I’m excited to share my experiences with the school board.”

The board consists of five members elected at large. There will be four positions available for election on the Redmond School District Board of Directors during the May 21, 2013 special election. Those interested in serving on the board of directors may pick up an application at the Deschutes County Clerk’s office, 1300 NW. Wall St., Suite 200 in Bend, Ore., between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. beginning February 9.
