KTVZ

Oregon State University-Cascades is providing free counseling for community members in La Pine through the university’s graduate counseling program.

Graduate students will provide supervised counseling in cognitive processing therapy and in person-centered therapy, two techniques shown to be effective in helping individuals manage stress, anxiety and depression.

Participation in the free counseling requires advance registration. Weekly 50-minute sessions will take place over 11 weeks. Sessions will take place at the South Deschutes County Services Building in La Pine.

The free counseling sessions allow master’s students to implement and develop expertise under the close supervision of faculty and clinical supervisors, and provide a service to the community.

OSU-Cascades’ counseling program is accredited by the Council for Accrediting Counseling and Related Educational Programs. The program is recognized by the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and the National Board of Certified Counselors as meeting requirements for state licensing and national certification.

To register as a volunteer participant in the free counseling program, visit http://www.osucascades.edu/free-counseling or contact Amy Ford at 541-322-3123. Participants must be age 18 or older
