Battery thieves hit parked Prineville RVs
Someone is stealing batteries from parked RVs in Prineville – three in the last two days, police said Tuesday evening as they sought the culprits and warned the public how not to be the next victim.
Officers are following up on leads, but no suspects have been identified so far, said Capt. Michael Boyd.
Vehicle batteries are commonly stolen for their value as a core turn-in, he said.
Anyone with information about the thefts or suspicious activity that could be related was urged to contact Prineville police at 541-447-4168.
You can also contact the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-877-876-TIPS or by using the form at KTVZ.COM’s Crime Stoppers page. You can remain anonymous, and could be eligible for a cash reward.
Police also encouraged anyone with an RV parked where someone can reach it to make sure battery components are secured.
If the RV is parked for a long period of time, they recommend removing the battery and storing it properly in a secure location.
