Redmond-LAX flights clear second hurdle
Economic Development for Central Oregon announced late Monday that it has met its obligation to generate $350,000 in pre-paid travel to demonstrate the community’s support of new air service between RDM and LAX by American Airlines.
The $350,000 is part of a multi-part incentive package Central Oregon offered American Airlines.
As of the close of business Monday, $374,500 had been collected in 13 business days — “a very short time frame for region-wide effort involving numerous businesses, organizations, and individuals,” EDCO’s announcement said.
“The decision now rests with American Airlines,” said Roger Lee, executive director of EDCO. “Any possible announcements regarding proposed air service, start dates, times and costs would be made by American Airlines.”
