Grant helps young artists in Madras
Heart of Oregon Corps announced today that it was awarded $473 for Madras High School Next Generation of Artists.
Heart of Oregon Corps recently acquired the Mt. View Hospital Thrift Store in Madras, which now provides a year-round venue for “work-learn-earn” opportunities for Jefferson County youth. Partnering with Madras High School, Heart of Oregon Corps offers job skills training for Youth Transitional Program students in the retail Heart of Oregon Corps Thrift Store.
In an effort to support Madras High School art students and promote cultural expression in Jefferson County, Heart of Oregon Corps is offering and improving wall space in the Thrift Store for high school students to display and market their artwork. The art students will also create a tile mural that will be permanently installed on the front street exterior of the thrift store located at 470 NE A Street in Madras. The cooperative project will showcase the vital partnership between Heart of Oregon and Madras High School, benefiting local high school students.
