Hundreds attend last day of NWX Spring Festival
The final day of the 2013 NorthWest Crossing Spring Festival was Sunday, and hundreds didn’t want to miss out.
Music, food and crafts filled the streets all weekend.
The theme of this year’s event: Cycle and Recycle.
Throughout the area, vendors featured many bicycle-related and/or recyclable works of art.
A good fit for the theme was right in the heart of the festival.
That’s where Let it Ride, a Bend touring company, was located. Let it Ride sells and service Pedego electric bikes.
“This is Pedego’s newest addition to their fleet called the trail tracker,” said Kevin Rea, creative director for Let it Ride. “(It) goes in the snow, on the beach, on the trail and it has a great 600-watt motor and gets up and flies and goes anywhere. It’s really, really fun.”
Electric bikes are growing in popularity. In fact, Rea says last year, 50 percent of all bike sales in Europe were electric.
Also at the festival was the return of the Conscious Living Showcase, featuring area businesses focusing on the “green” lifestyle.
