Breastfeeding pillows donated to first-time moms

KTVZ

The Boppy Company, maker of the award-winning Boppy ® Feeding and InfantSupport Pillow, has donated 100 Boppy ® Slipcovered Pillows to the Tri-County Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) programs (Deschutes, Crook and Jefferson Counties) to give to first-time moms.

This Mother’s Day gift is part of a larger donation by The Boppy Company, which has pledged to donate up to $250,000 worth of Boppy Slipcovered Pillows to Nurse-Family Partnership ® (NFP) programs across the United States.

For every Boppy Slipcovered Pillow purchased at Babies”R”Us stores and Babiesrus.com this month, The Boppy Company will donate a Boppy Slipcovered Pillow to NFP agencies, which will distribute them to NFP clients. The Mother’s Day promotion is called the “Boppy Effect: Get One, Give One program”.

Nurse-Family Partnership supports new moms by providing a registered nurse who provides her with home visits throughout pregnancy until her child’s second birthday – empowering her to have a healthy pregnancy, improve her child’s health and development, and achieve economic self-sufficiency

To participate in The Boppy Effect: Get One, Give One program, shoppers may visit Babies”R”Us this month and buy a Boppy Slipcovered Pillow. That’s the “get one” part. Then, The Boppy Company “gives one” Boppy Slipcovered Pillow to a mom-in-need through local agencies that deliver the Nurse-Family Partnership program. Consumers can also participate in this program by making a monetary donation to Nurse-Family Partnership directly through the NFP national website to help grow NFP programs nationwide.

Based on over 35 years of proven research, Nurse-Family Partnership has produced significant outcomes including a 79 percent reduction in preterm delivery for women who smoke, 48 percent reduction in child abuse and neglect; and 56 percent reduction in emergency room visits for accidents and poisonings, among others. Since its inception, Nurse-Family Partnership has served 167,061 at-risk families and now serves close to 25,000 families in 42 states.
