Deschutes Co. marks National Nurses Week

This week, May 6-12, is the American Nurses Association’s National Nurses Week.

Deschutes County employs 30 wonderful people who serve the local community in a wide-range of nursing programs including Maternal Child Health home visiting, the CaCoon program, immunizations, School-Based Health Centers, HIV services, reproductive health, Behavioral Health programs, the Deschutes County Jail, Family Planning, Communicable Disease, Nurse Family Partnership, WIC, and Juvenile Community Justice.

“What would we do without their support and skill? Nursing is a wonderful profession with so many dedicated people who give of themselves each and every day in service to people in need. They offer health services, a caring spirit, a passion for health and a willingness to serve. Hats-off to nurse professionals working for Deschutes County. We appreciate you and thank you for a job well done!” Health Services Director Scott Johnson said.

This year’s American Nurses Association National Nurses Week theme, “Delivering Quality and Innovation in Patient Care,” highlights RNs’ efforts to improve patient outcomes.

This week, communities across America will recognize RNs’ contributions to high-quality patient care and community health, and the founder of modern nursing-Florence Nightingale. At 3.1 million professionals-strong, nurses make up the largest health care workforce in the Country.
