Low snow closes Dutchman Flat Sno-Park early

KTVZ

The Dutchman Sno-Park area, located near Mt. Bachelor on the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway, closed to snowmobiles this past weekend due to low snow levels, Deschutes National Forest officials said Monday.

Early snow melt necessitated the earlier than normal closure for the area. Under a Forest Order, the Deschutes National Forest must put the closure in place once snow levels are below 12 inches in depth. The closure will continue until adequate snow falls in the winter.

Traditionally, many snowmobilers enjoy access to the high country around Dutchman Sno-Park through Memorial Day weekend.
