Powell Butte BBQ stand goes up in smoke

KTVZ

A Powell Butte barbecue stand was destroyed by fire late Saturday afternoon, but while the trailer was a total loss, there were no injuries, Crook County firefighters said.

Crook County Fire and Rescue got a call around 4:10 p.m. of a fire at Big Al’s Barbecue, officials said. The fire was called in by a nearby produce stand that spotted the smoke, they added.

The Powell Butte substation sent a water tender and engine to the scene, while CCF&R sent one engine and six firefighters.

Crews arrived at the corner of SW Williams Road and Highway 26 to find the trailer engulfed in flames from a fire hot enough to break out the windows.

Fire officials said the owners of the barbecue stand had left one to two hours before the fire began. The cause of the fire is under investigaton, they said.
