Sisters Park District director resigns
Executive Director Anne Heath of Sisters Park & Recreation District as resigned her position. A letter of resignation was delivered to the Board of Directors on June 6, 2013. Anne and her husband Alan will be moving to the Eugene area, where he has accepted a position with the Forest Service on the Willamette National Forest.
As stated in Anne’s letter of resignation,
“Over the last four years I have had the honor to work on an amazing team that committed itself to building this District into a viable and professional District. This work has been extremely rewarding as I have personally seen the positive changes that have taken place in our community because of this work. Important partnerships have been built and I believe that Sisters is a healthier community because there was a team who believed in and worked toward a vision together”
The District has grown on a large scale over the last four years. Our budget has increased from $300,000 to over 1 million dollars in the next budget year. We have done this without taking on debt, and at the same time built a great staff, and produced solid programs.
There is a story to be told about this District. It needs to be told often. The new leader of this District must not only have the vision to go forward into the unchartered, but must also have the ability to understand and appreciate the formation of this District and the values for which is was developed. It is a unique story that is very different than any other park district. The new leader must fully understand collaboration and the ability to come to the table without agendas and an attitude of service leadership. Therefore, I challenge you to seek leadership that has the ability to not just tell the story but genuinely care about it. Seek a leader that can develop the future while fully appreciating the values of the past.
It has been an honor to be trusted with this work. I thank the community of Sisters for your support. I have enjoyed working beside you to better our community I will be very excited to see what the future holds for SPRD and the Sisters community.”
Anne has committed to staying through the summer so that a new Executive Director can be hired.
“It is extremely important to me to leave the District in the best possible position that I can. Therefore, I am committed to helping the Board of Directors and district staff through this process.
