NeighborImpact can help meet financial goals

KTVZ

More than one third of Americans make the New Year’s resolution to save more money or spend less.

Even though it’s hard to figure out where to start, NeighborImpact can help you improve your finances and opportunities for you future. If you are among the estimated 60,000 Central Oregonians planning to get your finances in order in 2014, here are our top 6 tips for you.

Start small. $2 per day equals more than $700 per year. That is the cost of most car or appliance repairs, or even a vacation!
Set a goal. Save for that specific goal. Is your goal to buy a car? Then name your account “red mini cooper.” (Or, like many Oregonians, “blue Subaru.”)
Hire a financial coach or advisor. NeighborImpact has certified professional staff and all coaching programs are free of charge and available in 5 communities around Central Oregon.
Track your finances and bills with a money management app. Consider how much easier planning would be if you were able to check your savings as often as you check Facebook. Some recommended apps include mint.com, smartypig, and hello wallet.
Take a money management class.
