Staff member assaulted near Prineville hospital

Prineville police said Tuesday they are “very actively” investigating an assault on a Pioneer Memorial Hospital staff member on the hospital grounds late Saturday night.

The unidentified female staff member reported being accosted by a subject on the grounds outside the hospital around 11:40 p.m. on Saturday, said Capt. Michael Boyd.

The staff member, who suffered a minor injury, was treated at the hospital and released, Boyd said.

The suspect was reported to be a white male with short black hair, about 5-foot-10 with a thin build, and was wearing dark clothing, the captain said.

Detectives are analyzing evidence from the scene and expect to receive more shortly, Boyd said, declining to release more details but adding, “This is a very active investigation.”
