Saving Grace receives Cow Creek Foundation grant

Saving Grace is thrilled to announce a $7,700 grant from the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation. These funds will be used to support new client orientations for adults and children at Mary’s Place Supervised Visitation & Safe Exchange Center.

Mary’s Place serves families impacted by domestic/dating violence, stalking, child abuse or sexual assault by providing a safe secure environment for non-custodial parents to visit with their children, or for families sharing custody to exchange children for parenting time without coming into contact with each other.

It is during orientations that Mary’s Place staff establish relationships with family members and learn the unique circumstances of every family and what is needed to maximize safety in each case.

Gail Bartley, Mary’s Place Program Manager says, “Providing safety for adult and child victims is the overarching purpose of Mary’s Place. The funds provided by this grant will allow our staff the time to conduct these orientations which are so essential to creating a positive and safe experience for families using our program.”

Cow Creek Band of the Umpqua Tribe of Indians has a long and proud history of giving back to the communities in which they live and work. In 1997, the Tribe formalized this tradition of philanthropy by establishing a grant-making foundation, first known as the Cow Creek Seven Feathers Foundation.

In the spring of 2000, the foundation changed its name to the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation, to emphasize that it is a private, independent foundation, representing the Tribe, and not to be confused with one of the Tribe’s many economic development endeavors, the Seven Feathers Resort.

Each year, the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation makes grants to eligible non-profit organizations in communities in Douglas, Coos, Lane, Deschutes, Klamath, Jackson and Josephine counties. Since its beginning, the Cow Creek Foundation has awarded more than $13 million in grants to community non-profit organizations in the seven county areas.
