SW Bend drug-theft raid lands three in jail

Three people were arrested Thursday in a police raid on a southwest Bend home where people allegedly traded stolen property for drugs – and both were seized, officers said Friday.

Officers went to the home at 61099 Chuckanut Drive around 1:50 p.m. to serve the search warrant after an investigation revealed stolen property was taken to the home and traded for drugs, said Corporal Mike Landolt.

A car stolen in Arizona was recovered on the property, while methamphetamine, marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms were found in the home, Landolt said.

Officers also seized evidence of drug sales and distribution, including packaging material, scales, drug records and cutting agents.

Numerous checks, credit cards and cellphones recovered at the home did not belong to the residents, the corporal added.

Richard William Patterson, 21; Troy Andrew Mercer, 40; and Farrah Suzanne Carkhuff, 37, were taken to the Deschutes County Jail and booked on drug possession charges.

Mercer and Patterson also face drug delivery charges, while Mercer is charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and Patterson is charged with theft by receiving, computer crime and tampering with physical evidence.

All three Bend residents are charged with frequenting a house where drugs are used, kept or sold.

A 19-year-old woman also was at the home but was not cited, though possible charges of frequenting may be filed by the district attorney’s office, Landolt said.
