The Daughters of the American Revolution has recognized Alex Noble, a recently graduated Summit High senior, as Oregon’s “Service for Veteran’s Outstanding Youth Volunteer.”

Alex served as a chaperone for a WWII veteran on an Honor Flight trip to Washington, D.C.

Because he wanted local kids to better understand WWII, his Eagle Scout project was a presentation on his trip for the Bend Boys and Girls Club, sharing his experiences.

Alex was honored at the Oregon State Society DAR Conference in Portland.

Meanwhile, the Oregon State Society, Daughters of the American Revolution recently honored local historian Steve Lent with the NSDAR Historic Preservation Medal at their annual state conference in Portland.

Lent is the assistant director and historian at the Bowman Museum in Prineville. A lifetime resident of Central Oregon, he has written extensively on local history. His most recent book is “Crook County (Images of America).”
