Crime Stoppers: Bend PD seek ID theft suspect

Bend police released a surveillance photo and sought tips from the public Tuesday to find an identity theft suspect who stole a credit card and other personal ID from a car in northeast Bend last week and has used it at several stores around the city.

They also are reminding residents not to leave valuables in cars, and to lock them up.

This year alone, Bend police already have investigated over 200 thefts from vehicles, said Lt. Nick Parker.

In this particular case, someone entered a 39-year-old Bend woman’s car last Thursday night and stole several items, including the credit card and other personal info, Parker said.

Since then, the suspect has used her credit card at several locations in Bend, one of which caught a photo of the man, described as a white male adult, 20 to 30 years old, about 6-feet tall, with a possible tattoo on the front of his neck.

Asked why the victim had not immediately canceled the card, Parker said, “Victims routinely do not realize they are victims until their cards have been used multiple times. ID thieves can do a lot of damage in a short amount of time.”
