A 49-year-old Prineville man was hospitalized and cited on DUII and other charges Sunday evening after crashing his motorcycle on SE Juniper Canyon Road south of Prineville, Crook County sheriff’s deputies said.

Deputies were dispatched shortly before 5 p.m. to the area of SE Juniper Canyon Road near Davis Loop on the reported injury crash, said Sgt. Travis Jurgens.

Deputies arrived to find a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle laying in the dirt off the west side of the road and the operator, Bryan France, sitting in the dirt on the road shoulder about 50 feet to the south, Jurgens said.

An investigation found that France had been heading south when he lost control of the motorcycle, failing to negotiate a curve. France was thrown from the motorcycle after it left the west side of the road and hit a road sign, breaking the 4-by-4 post off near the ground, Jurgens said.

France, who was wearing a helmet, was examined at the scene by Crook County Fire and Rescue medics but refused medical transport, the sergeant said.

He was then taken into custody on charges of DUII, reckless driving and criminal mischief. Due to the visible injuries, deputies took France to Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Prineville, where he was admitted after being cited.
