KTVZ

A burglar alarm early Sunday morning brought Redmond police to the Grocery Outlet, where they arrested at gunpoint a transient found hiding inside the store, officers said.

Sgt. Curtis Chambers said officers were dispatched to the grocery store at 798 NW Fifth Street shortly before 2 a.m. on a report of a burglary in progress.

While checking the premises, they found a damaged side door that was unsecured, then entered to find a transient identified as Joseph Ray Lehman, 31, hiding inside.

The officer held Lehman at gunpoint while waiting for additional officers, Chambers said, adding that he was taken into custody without incident.

Lehman was booked into the Deschutes County Jail on charges of second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespass and third-degree criminal mischief. He was being held on $7,000 bail.

Anyone with information regarding the case was asked to contact Redmond police at (541) 693-6911, reference Case No. 14-192567
