For 40 years, Women, Infants and Children (WIC) has been helping families raise thriving babies, and smart, school-ready kids in Oregon. Deschutes County WIC started in 1980! To celebrate the successful and significant anniversary, Deschutes County Health Services and WIC invites the public to an open house with fun for the whole family!

The open house will be held Thursday, August 28, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to enjoy food, cake, games for children, raffle prizes for trivia answers, display boards, community partner displays, and much more. Come and learn more about all of the wonderful things WIC has done for the past 40 years.

To join the celebration, please visit the Deschutes County Health Services building at 2577 NE Courtney Drive in Bend off 27 th Street.

Services provided by Deschutes County WIC include: Connecting families to the resources they need, empowering parents to be confident caregivers, supporting healthy lifestyle habits, and serving as the nation’s premier public health nutrition program.

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infant and Children (WIC) is a program that helps pregnant women, new mothers, and young children eat well, learn about nutrition, and stay healthy. WIC provides nutrition education and counseling, breastfeeding support, nutritious foods, and help accessing health care. Nutrition education is the cornerstone of the WIC Program.

Oregon WIC serves over 167,000 women, infants and children in more than 100 clinics across the state! Statewide, WIC has the nation’s highest breastfeeding rates and helps reduce early childhood obesity – a true public health success story.

WIC has been strengthening families for 40 years, please come and celebrate with us-we look forward to seeing you there.
