New wave of ‘IRS’ scam calls hits Crook County
The Crook County Sheriff’s Office issued an alert to citizens Thursday after several reported receiving the latest in a long series of scam calls from people claiming to be with the IRS and demanding payment — while threatening arrest.
“Multiple citizens have reported receiving a phone call from a female who said she was with the IRS Legal Department and that a warrant had been issued for their arrest unless arrangements were made to pay the ‘back taxes.'” said Undersheriff John Gautney.
