KTVZ

The Crook County Sheriff’s Office issued an alert to citizens Thursday after several reported receiving the latest in a long series of scam calls from people claiming to be with the IRS and demanding payment — while threatening arrest.

“Multiple citizens have reported receiving a phone call from a female who said she was with the IRS Legal Department and that a warrant had been issued for their arrest unless arrangements were made to pay the ‘back taxes.'” said Undersheriff John Gautney.

In at least one case. the person contacted lost several hundred dollars to this scam.

If you should receive a call of this nature, please contact your local law enforcement agency and report it, deputies said.

In no case should you provide any personal or bank information to this caller. This is NOT a legitimate IRS call.
