Redmond family welcomes rare identical triplets

KTVZ

Central Oregon is home to three new additions– identical triplets!

Their older brothers, 6-year-old Ashton and 4-year-old Austin, are just boys being boys at the family’s Redmond home.

But now, their brotherly duties have tripled.

“Surprise, surprise! In more ways than three,” their dad, Brian Marcum, said Wednesday.

Mason, Hunter and Jaxson, born July 29th, are perfectly identical.

“What went through my mind, like everybody else, was, ‘How are we going to tell them apart?'” Marcum said.

“They all came out in the same minute. They have the same birth time,” said their mom, Deanna Marcum.

It’s almost like you are seeing triple.

“Right now, they are different sizes,” Deanna said.

But that won’t last forever

“We are going to be painting some toes and assigning some colors,” their mom added.

Toe painting, huh? That sounds a little girly.

“I think of all the girls that will be around,” Deanna said.

Future girlfriends, yuck!

But what about dad?

“I think about the cost of insurance when they turn 16,” their dad said.

Since the boys are identical, both parents know many tricks are in store.

“I’m curious when they are older and out of school, the stories that they will tell us that they did when they were younger, and who did what,” Brian said.

What makes the boys particularly special is that they were naturally conceived.

They were born healthy, but had a few medical bumps along the way, which kept them in the hospital up until about a week and half ago.

Now, everyone is doing great.
