Disturbing evidence on Day 2 of Gustafson trial
Friday marked day two of the Richard Gustafson trial. Gustafson, the founder and former co-owner of Acrovision Sports Center, is facing sexual abuse charges as well as encouraging child sex abuse and possession of cocaine.
Criminal forensic experts took the witness stand Friday morning.
A computer forensic analyst said the three computers seized in this case — a laptop and desktop from Gustafson’s home, and a computer from Acrovison — all contained child pornography videos or images. A majority of them involved kids 8 to 13 years old.
Another examiner said he found traces of semen on three of nine children’s socks, which were found inside a safe in Gustafson’s office.
A compact mirror was also inspected during the investigation after a white substance was found on it.
“I had an indication that it was cocaine, I think from the officer himself, so my first test was to see if it was cocaine. An analysis came back with a positive result for cocaine,” said Devin Mast, a forensic scientist with the Oregon State Police office crime lab.
The KIDS Center, a child abuse prevention center in Bend, interviewed the children involved and provided the court with those recorded interviews.
In one of the videos, one of the young girls said, “I was hoping it was a dream. It was really weird and I was scared.”
The trial continues Monday morning.
