Munkres resigns from Redmond School Board
Redmond School District board member Ron Munkres has submitted his resignation effective November 4
Munkres is moving outside of district boundaries and in doing so, will not meet the qualifications necessary to serve on the district’s five member board. Munkres was elected to the board of directors on July 1, 2013 and his term was scheduled to end June 30, 2017.
“I am honored to have served on the Redmond School District Board of Directors,” shared Munkres. “I’ve seen the district grow tremendously over the last few years and I am confident in the direction our community is headed. Superintendent McIntosh has developed a strong leadership team and a great strategic plan for the district.”
The board will meet on Wednesday, November 19 to review and take action on Munkres’ resignation. Once approved, the board will declare an opening and follow district protocol to appoint a new member. The incoming candidate will serve from January 1, 2015 to June 30, 2015.
“On behalf of the Redmond School District team, we want to thank Ron for his service to our students, staff and community,” stated A.J. Losoya, Board Chair. “Ron’s involvement in the community and mentorship of our students will be missed. We wish Ron and his wife Connie all the best in their future endeavors.”
The Redmond School District Board of Directors consists of five members elected to serve overlapping four-year terms as non-salaried trustees of the school district. As elected officials, the board is responsible for the scope, depth and quality of education and is the official policy-making body of the school district.
