Prineville PD: Teen accidentally shoots self in leg
A 13-year-old Prineville boy was in stable condition at a Bend hospital Saturday night, one day after accidentally shooting himself in the leg at the family’s northeast Prineville home, police said.
Around 1:45 p.m. Friday, the teen called 911 to report that he had suffered a self-inflicted, accidental gunshot wound at a home on Northeast Seventh Street, said Sgt. Jimmy O’Daniel.
Evidence at the scene confirmed to police that the boy, whose name was not released, accidentally shot himself in the leg with a family member’s gun, O’Daniel said.
Sgt. Tom Kurtz said the teen was flown by AirLink helicopter to St. Charles Bend with non-life-threatening injuries.
While some details have not been released, O’Daniel said there are no charges pending in connection with the incident.
