Bend changing building, land use permit processes

KTVZ

The City of Bend Community Development Department said Wednesday it is enhancing and refining its building safety and land-use permit processes.

Over the last year, the Community Development Department has identified concerns from customers with the permitting process. Upcoming changes will reduce confusion for customers, provide a more helpful approach in serving customers and decrease permit turnaround times for complete applications.

The City of Bend Community Development Department is holding a series of meetings, targeted at the building and development community, to explain the improvements that will be introduced into the permitting process. A few of the highlighted changes include:

A formal completeness check review by City staff at the time of permit application or plan submittal.

Standardized naming conventions for plan submittals to expedite quicker review times.

A more consistent and streamlined form of communication between applicants and reviewers in e-Plans.

Attending one of these upcoming meetings in the Council Chambers at City Hall, at 710 NW Wall Street, will benefit customers by providing a detailed understanding of the changes that are taking place, effective February 17.

Wednesday, Jan, 21, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Wednesday, Jan. 28, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Monday, Feb. 2, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Thursday, Feb. 5, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
