The public is welcome to provide input about the slate of four names during a 6:15 p.m. public hearing taking place at the Tuesday board meeting.

In all, the new elementary school naming committee reviewed more than 300 survey submissions, met four times to consider options and spent several hours researching potential names.

The submitted school names represent distinguished individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the community and education and historical and geological landmarks that reflect the character of our community.

The 600-seat elementary school is under construction and is scheduled to open in the fall . The new school will be located south of Reed Market Road and west of American Lane in Bend.
