A 31-year-old Bend man was arrested Saturday, one day after his ex-girlfriend went to police and said he’d raped and assaulted her and held her against her will in her home at various times during the past month, officers said.

The 35-year-old alleged victim went to the Bend Police Department Friday to report being the victim of domestic violence involving her ex-boyfriend, Brett Allen Vanscoy, said Lt. Nick Parker.

During their investigation, officers determined Vanscoy had held the woman in her northeast Bend residence against her will, assaulting, strangling and raping her, along with other sexual-related crimes, Parker said.

The offenses allegedly occurred over the time period of Feb. 28 to Friday.

The woman had applied for a restraining order against Vanscoy last month, Parker said, but it had not been served to him.

Vanscoy was arrested without incident around 7:25 a.m. Saturday at an unrelated location, the lieutenant said.

He was lodged at the Deschutes County Jail on first-degree rape, kidnapping, sex abuse and unlawful sexual penetration charges, as well as strangulation, fourth-degree assault, harassment, menacing and felon in possession of a firearm. Initial bail was set at $382,500.

Parker said the investigation is continuing.
