Bend man found dead in RV at coast state park

KTVZ

Oregon State Police conducted a death investigation in the Oregon Coast Range after a Bend man was found deceased in his RV, apparently of natural causes, troopers said Monday.

Shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday, troopers were dispatched to LL Stub Stewart State Park on the report of a deceased male found in his motorhome. Troopers and medics arrived on scene and confirmed Hugh B. Fechtler, 63, was deceased inside his motorhome, troopers said.

According to OSP Sgt. Jesse Orosco, Fechtler’s family became concerned when he couldn’t be reached by cellphone. They contacted a neighboring camper at Mountain Dale Cabin Village campground, who found him non-responsive inside his motorhome.

State park rangers began life-saving efforts, including CPR. Upon medics arriving on scene, Fechtler was determined to be deceased.

OSP said Monday there was no indication of foul play and the investigation is continuing.

OSP was assisted by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Washington County deputy medical examiner and the Banks Fire Department.
