OSU-Cascades Westside campus foes try one more appeal
Opponents of the OSU-Cascades Westside campus now under construction are giving their so-far unsuccessful appeal efforts one more try, filing a request for review with the Oregon Supreme Court.
The Truth in Site Coalition announced on its Facebook page that the petition was filed Tuesday with the court.
“TiS has consulted with many and believes that it is in the best interests of the community to continue our legal challenge to the OSU-C 10-acre site plan,” the announcement said.
However, the coalition noted, “The Oregon Supreme Court hears about 10 percent of the cases filed.”
The move comes after the state Court of Appeals declined last month to hear the matter, without opinion, thus affirming the earlier approvals of the plans by a city hearings officer and the city council.
The opponents to the site have argued the school should have been required by the city fo file a formal master plan. They argue the plans lack adequate parking and that there are other more suitable locations, most notably the city’s Juniper Ridge mixed-use development on the north side of town.
