Bend senior living community donates to Civil Air Patrol

KTVZ

Prestige Senior Living High Desert recently held their annual yard sale fundraiser. This year they decided to help support Civil Air Patrol’s High Desert Squadron’s efforts to place a wreath on every veterans’ grave during this year’s Wreaths Across America ceremony at Deschutes Memorial Gardens on December 12th.

Some of the residents even pitched in by donating items to sell. They raised enough money to purchase 10 wreaths.

1st Lt Kennedy accepted a check from Prestige Senior Living High Desert on behalf of the High Desert Squadron. He presented a certificate to Tiffany Schwarm, Community Relations Director of Prestige Senior Living High Desert Wednesday evening at their facility.

After the presentation, 1st Lt Kennedy had the opportunity to visit with a few of the residents about their military service and about Civil Air Patrol. The High Desert Civil Air Patrol Squadron sends out a big “Thank You” to everyone at Prestige Senior Living High Desert who helped to make this a successful fundraising event.

Anyone wishing to participate in Wreaths Across America by purchasing a wreath to be placed on a veteran’s grave can do so by visiting www.bitly.com/WAAhighdesertsquadron. You will be helping to assure that every veteran’s grave will be decorated this Christmas season. You will also be helping out Civil Air Patrol’s High Desert Squadron; WAA will rebate to our squadron $5 for every wreath sold.

For more information about the High Desert Squadron and Civil Air Patrol, visit www.caphighdesert.org or www.gocivilairpatrol.com. We meet the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the Boyle Education Center at COCC, 7-9 PM.
