A Prineville woman was cited for following too closely after her car rear-ended another that slowed to turn left on Highway 26 just east of Prineville Saturday afternoon, Crook County sheriff’s deputies said. The collision sent one person to the hospital.

Deputies responded around 3:25 p.m. to the reported crash on Highway 26 near Barnes Road, said Sgt. James Savage.

They found a 1997 Honda Civic occupied by three juveniles with severe rear-end damage and a 2013 Jeep Wrangler driven by Rhonda Purvine, 48, of Prineville, with front-end damage, Savage said.

An investigation determined the male juvenile driving the Civic was heading east on Highway 26 and had slowed and was waiting for traffic to clear so he could turn left onto Barnes Road, the sergeant said. Purvine, also heading east, failed to stop and her Jeep rear-ended the Honda.

Crook County Fire and Rescue medics treated one female juvenile who ended up being taken to St. Charles Prineville by her parents, Savage said.
