Give the gift of warmth for the Bethlehem Inn
Local nonprofit organization Better Together is joining hands with Bethlehem Inn to collect gloves for its residents. The glove drive, designed to honor a spirit of service, continues through January 14 th .
Glove donation sites include:
The Bend Rock Gym Bend/Redmond NeighborImpact
High Desert Education Service District
Gloves will be distributed to residents in need at a breakfast hosted by Bethlehem Inn and prepared by AmeriCorps VISTA members on January 18 th . Thomas Arand, an AmeriCorps VISTA with Better Together explains that he sees this as an excellent opportunity to engage with marginalized individuals in the Bend community.
“I’m extremely excited to have the chance to not only prepare a meal for residents but also to provide them with warm gloves. Having warm hands is something that is easily taken for granted but remains an unmet basic need for far too many people.”
According to Arand, Martin Luther King Day is more than a federal holiday marked by a day off from work, it’s also an excellent chance to volunteer and have a day “on,” helping individuals in one’s community.
“Volunteering in any capacity is a rewarding way to learn more about organizations in the community, connect with other like-minded people, and make a tangible impact on those in need,” said Arand.
