Former refuge occupier files for damages ‘from works of devil’
Former refuge occupier Shawna Cox filed for damages “from the works of the devil” in a a defense motion in U.S. District Court on Wednesday. But it didn’t get far.
Cox is facing federal conspiracy charges for her role in the 41-day armed occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. She is currently under house arrest and is not allowed to discuss the occupation publicly.
However, in her eight-page defense motion, which was immediately dismissed by a judge, Cox calls LaVoy Finicum’s death an “execution.”
Cox is also asking for damages, which she claimed were suffered “from the works of the devil” in excess of $666,666,666,666.66.
She also claimed the federal workers at the refuge headquarters could have come to work at any time during the occupation.
“It was their choice not to come to work out of guilt,” Cox wrote.
