Ashland police, residents free deer stuck in tree
This was not your typical call for service for Ashland police, but thanks to some creative thinking, a deer that got stuck in an unusual fashion was freed without apparent harm.
KOBI reports police got a call Wednesday a deer was running through a backyard around 3 p.m. when she got stuck in a tree.
She got about half her body through, just a bit past her shoulders, but her hips wouldn’t fit between the tree’s two large branches.
Homeowner Jennifer England said she didn’t even know the deer was in her backyard, let alone stuck in her tree.
With help from police and a neighbor, they used a car jack to spread the branches enough that the deer could get out unhurt and move on to some greener, less troublesome pastures.
