New Prineville mom’s happy, then sad week ends on high note
Monday was supposed to be a totally joyous day for Casey Purcell, as she gave birth to her second child — a son, Jaxxon. But while in labor, someone stole her car from the St. Charles Bend parking lot, with her new-baby supplies still inside.
Friday was a much better day, thanks to some folks touched by her story on NewsChannel 21 who stepped in to help her out.
The Auto Clinic of Bend and V-R Garage helped to get the car parts and repairs done for Purcell and baby Jaxxon.
“When he (Wilson’s father) heard this story, he just jumped right on it. He wanted me to give (NewsChannel 21) a call and see how we can get this vehicle to the woman,” said mechanic JulieAnn Wilson.
The gratitude the mother has for these complete strangers is indescribable, and they have become her heroes.
“This is everything — you know, this is amazing.” grandmother Ginger Purcell said. “People are absolutely amazing, and this is one of the nicest things I ever seen.”
For the new mom, it’s having transportation to take her 7-year-old daughter to school and baby Jaxxon to his doctor’s appointments.
“This is awesome,” Casey Purcell said. “I can’t believe at least somebody has a good heart to do good. I can’t believe somebody would do something what they did.”
The police did find her Honda Accord abandoned in a rural area, but it had been stripped and left unusable.
Purcell said she is thankful there are still good people in the world.
