Survey: Bend is Oregon’s second-spendiest place to stay

Cannon Beach, Clatsop County’s affluent resort destination, is the most expensive summer locale in the state, followed by Bend. That’s according to the latest survey conducted by CheapHotels.org.

The survey compared 20 popular destinations in the Beaver State based on their lodging cost. Specifically, the average rate for the cheapest available double room (rated at least 3 stars) was established for each destination. The months of July and August served as the comparative basis.

To stay in Cannon Beach this summer, travelers will have to spend an average of $234 per night. Also on the Top 3 podium are the popular mountain town of Bend and the state’s largest city, Portland. With average rates of $221 and $216 respectively for their least expensive double room, these two Oregon destinations took the second and third spots on the survey.

Seaside, Newport, Astoria, Lincoln City and Coos Bay make for another five destinations on the Oregon Coast that made it into theTop 10. The least expensive destinations in Oregon are Medford, Pendleton and Grants Pass, where overnight guests should be able to find a room for less than $100 nightly.
