Bend reptile store burglar caught on camera

KTVZ

A popular reptile store in Bend was burglarized Wednesday night, and the suspect who broke through a window of the business was caught on camera.

Jeff Jensen, owner of Reptile Zone on Northeast Greenwood Avenue, is still in disbelief someone would break into his pet store and take more than $1,000 of property and cash.

Some of the cash taken was from a tip collection Jensen uses to feed the pets in his store.

The suspect broke through a side window left open to help cool the pets at night.

Jensen posted the surveillance photos on Facebook and got support from his friends and customers.

“I’ve got great customers. I’m not making money doing this. I’ve got such an incredible group that loves my passion,” Jensen said Friday.

Jensen said he will now have to find a new way to keep his animals cool at night.

Jensen did filed a police report with Bend police and has received several tips from community members.
